Hello all. It is that time of year again, and this is where ALL holiday shoppers go nuts on this year's deals. I have experience on working on Thanksgiving, and all I can say is that people really have nothing better to do with their lives. Thanksgiving should be about spending time with those closest to you, NOT go shopping! Another problem comes form the fact that there isn't enough people to help with the flow of operations. I know this because where I work our "Management Team" pulls people from making sure the shelves are full and ready for the customers to purchase to further upsetting our customers. I say this because I've been pulled from my task to help cashier, thus further delaying operations even more. Another problem is that our "Management Team" seems to be aware of the short staffing. Pfft, I'll believe it when I see it. From what I know, we've got more people, but I'm not holding my breath on their longevity. I highly doubt the people we hire won't last more than a week AFTER they see how terrible the operation really is. But the biggest problem of all? The store is open 24 HOURS! I have never (and I mean) NEVER see another retail outlet open 24 hours a day! This creates a problem with the fact that there's no breathing room so that our overnight team can stock shelves with merchandise and also allowing our morning team to concentrate on their tasks for the day. With all that said, what does this have to do with the title of this blog? The answer's simple: STOP THE F****** Thanksgiving shopping craze (save it for Friday), give your employees a chance to enjoy the holiday, put hours into effect (and NOT open 24 hours a day), and give those who work overnight a chance to stock shelves while the store's closed! This will save a lot of grief and time by doing so! You'll also have a lot of happier employees.
