Sorry if I didn't fulfill my promise of a review within a week, but I've been busy with school and finding time and energy to do these blogs isn't as easy as it looks. With that said and out of the way, onto the review. The Survivor Series was created after the highly successful WrestleMania 3, and introduced a few new concepts: teamwork and survival (hence the name). The first Survivor Series took place on November 26th, 1987 on Thanksgiving Day (another concept that occured for the first few years) at the Richfield Colosseum in Richfield Township, Ohio. The event featured four survivor series matches, including a rare all female survivor series match. Does this event hold a candle to WrestleMania 3 or not? The answer to that question is no. Why? Because there weren't any memorable matches and while the concept was really interesting, the event itself left a lot to be desired, but since this is a premiere, I'll cut a little bit of slack. Of course, was there anything of interest? Yes there is. As I previously mentioned, we got an all female survivor series match. Women's wrestling back then was really rare, and showcased that the ladies can do as much as the guys can, if not more (I'm not saying the guys can't hold a candle, I'm saying that if the ladies can do just as good, if not better, more power to them). Overall, the concept that was put into play for this event was there, but the event itself felt really mediocre, but one could say that this was a learning experience, and hopefully next year's event will remedy the mediocrity this event left. On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd give this a 1.5 out of 5. Be sure to check out my next WWE anthology review: Royal Rumble 1988.
