Let me say Happy Holidays to those who have visited my website and thank you for the views (yes, even those who spike my views to nearly 100 visitors in a day.) But is it really a happy holiday without snow? In this individual's mind, not really. This is the second time I've encountered what is called a brown Christmas (Christmas day without snow). Who is responsible for this? I'll tell you who is responsible: the warm fronts that lasted for several days. Above average temperatures caused all the snow to melt (and yes, I LOVE the snow and cold). It's not really Christmas without snow because it's unseasonal. Would you rather wake up to Christmas day to snow on the ground, or a really depressing looking grassland? I'd take the former any day of the week. But there is some good news: I found out that temperatures are going to drop this week (insert really nerdy smiley face). I say this not to irritate people, but rather because I am an allergy sufferer and warmer weather doesn't do me any good. It is true that it is drier when it's colder, but I'll take dry skin over allergies ANY DAY!
Ah Homestarrunner; your innocence and cluelessness has lead to a cult following thanks to the wonderful works of the Brothers Chaps (more accurately, Mike and Matt Chapman and their team). Your "family friendly" cartoons brought both pop culture references and humor together into one. Your disappearance in 2010 left many to wonder if you'll ever return. Alright, I'm fully aware of what's been happening with Homestarrunner.com. The "return" this past April with a cartoon really caught everyone off guard (myself included) and began the thinking process of whether this was a one time deal or not. Well, in my opinion it is yes and no. The yes part lies in the fact that a few more toons appears 6 months later. This also tells me that the team at Homestarrunner.com is making cartoons that exceed their previous works (which probably explains the lengthy time frame between cartoons), and I find this a good thing because it gives the team (actually, ANY animation studio, independent or otherwise) more time to do their work and put in extra touches before posting online. The no part indicates that the team is probably only doing this once in an infrequent flyer mile, and they'll post more when we least expect it. I can say that the Brothers Chaps probably want to do this so that they can let their fans know that the Homestar Runner universe isn't dead (after all, their success allowed them to put the website on hiatus so that they can do other projects for other companies).
They say that Mother Nature is unpredictable. It's 100% fact. The seasons each bring their own unique style with them when they arrive. Some turn out better, some turn out worse. Last year, Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota got nailed with a lot of below zero temperatures. I was so happy, my smile had to be surgically removed. Since last winter "ended" much later than normal, the spring and summer had a lot of below average weather. Fall, however, was a roller coaster of above and below average weather. So where does this leave winter? A lot of people that I have talked to predicted that the winter will be above average. I am predicting the winter will be worse than last winter. But so far, the temperatures have gone both ways. All I am really hoping for is a white Christmas. It isn't the same without everyone's least favorite (and my personal favorite) terrain: snow and cold. While Winter doesn't start for another two weeks, I'm placing my money (I don't gamble in real life) on a sub zero winter. If it gets to be warmer than normal, I'll be an unhappy person. Winter isn't about temperatures above 32 degrees, it's about temperatures 32 degrees and below.
